Advertising policy

How ads may appear on this website, the role of Microsoft Advertising, and the choices you have.

Effective date: 1 October 2026. This policy describes how advertising may be displayed on this website and how your choices are respected.

1. Why there may be ads on this site

Running a website costs money — hosting, security and upkeep — and the advertising shown on these pages helps cover those costs without charging visitors anything. This website may display advertisements served by Microsoft Advertising (the advertising platform associated with the Bing search network).

2. How ad serving works

When you open a page, your browser requests content from Microsoft's ad servers. Microsoft decides which advert to show based on factors such as the content of the page, your general location (derived from your IP address), and — only if you have consented — a profile of your interests built from cookies. We choose to allow ads on the site, but we do not choose which specific advert any individual visitor sees, and we do not sell your personal data to advertisers.

3. Microsoft's use of cookies and data

Microsoft may set and read cookies on this site to deliver, measure and improve advertising, to prevent fraud, and to control how often you see the same advert. Data collected may include your IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, and a pseudonymous identifier. Microsoft processes this data under its own privacy terms. You can read more in the Microsoft Privacy Statement and in Microsoft's advertising policies at about.ads.microsoft.com/en-us/policies.

4. Personalised and non-personalised ads

Personalised ads are chosen using a profile of your likely interests. They are only used on this site if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner, and you can withdraw that consent at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in our footer.

Non-personalised ads are based on the page content and rough location only, without an interest profile. If you decline cookies, any ads shown will be non-personalised, and no advertising cookies will be set for that purpose.

5. How to opt out

You have several routes to control or opt out of personalised advertising:

Opt-outs are usually recorded through a cookie itself, so if you clear your cookies or change browsers you may need to repeat them.

6. Our advertising standards

We expect any advertising appearing on this site to be decent, honest and appropriate for a family audience. We do not allow adverts that are misleading, exploit vulnerable people, or make unsubstantiated health claims. If you see an advert on this site that you feel is inappropriate, please tell us at hello@helpathomebyjen.co.uk and we will raise it with Microsoft.
